This is a lovely small handmade French Faisselle cheese mold. It is salt glazed for that dark brown slightly shiny finish and has 3 lovely little feet which is quite unusual.
Faisselle or 'framage frais' (fresh goat cheese) was made by curdling unpasteurized milk and then straining it. This mold has been well used and the imperfections add to the patina. These types of cheese strainers are a great addition to any pottery collection and can be used as storage around the home or kitchen.
