This is an early 18ᵗʰ Century oil jar from Provence.
The jars were used to store mainly walnut oil as the oil was used to fuel lamps in the home. The marks on the outside this particular one are the thumb prints from the maker himself and they are now quite rare to find.
It has a stunning green glaze, three handles and a spout.
42cm high x approx 32cm across the belly.
There are some chips along the rim and base as you would expect from a pot of this age but there are no cracks.
